Movies I’m watching out for

April 29, 2008

You won’t find Ironman on this entry because the movie’s hitting in a couple of days, wheeeeeeee. Anyway here goes. I’ve embedded the Youtube videos here but I’m also going to include the links if you feel that hte loading time is too slow. All right? Keep reading :D

WOAH! Call me ghey but I <3 that slapping scene. Just as I probably will love this movie because as of writing this, My Sassy Girl would probably be a vicarious romantic experience. The real irony is when I’ll be watching it with a friend whom I like, but that’s another story for another day.

There are a lot of differences obviously. The train scene is a noticeable change, context, environement, etc… Yeah…  So that being said, I wonder if the "for the first seven years of his life, he thought he was a girl" thing would still remain.

From the trailer, it feels like the movie is faster-paced than the original version, which I like. The color and tone suggest a larger contrast to key romantic destinations and figures like Central Park and the various rose scenes.  And I have to say, I like it already, though I’m well-aware of the huge amount of prejudice this movie has (after all Americanized Asian horror flicks didn’t really live up), but I think I’m going to enjoy this version more.  I’ve got this feeling that this one’s going to be cheesy, but not obviously so, and totally coinage-worthy. I’m pretty sure there’s be a lot "sassy" people after the movie hits. I’m very very excited to see the varied locales of this version.

Another important thing to note is that the guy main character isn’t bad-looking. That’s a large change from the original version. But all-in-all I think he can deliver the character acting-wise. The casting people did pick a good pair IMO considering that in the trailer, you can really see that romantic dynamic that the original version wanted to deliver.

I’m really, really excited :p

The Chronicles of NYARNYAR: Prince Caspian

I’m not really a Narnia fan, in a sense that I haven’t read the books. I’m quite lazy really so… uh there… Movie versions save me a lot of time and money too!

That being said, I don’t know the plot of this movie. So I won’t be able to say that the book was waaaaaaaaay better than the movie or something like that.’

The first Narnia didn’t really impress me. I’m not saying it was bad, it was quite good but it just didn’t impress me, maybe it’s because I was expecting a lot from it already. Right now, I’m expecting a lot, that’s an insane amount of beautiful CG right there in the trailer. I highly doubt it’d suck cough cough Forbidden Kingdom.

Please don’t think that I’m gay.

I love Sex and the City. I catch it whenever it’s on back when it aired on HBO. I will however never acquire the whole series for my personal collection. Yes defensive, but I had My Sassy Girl up there so yeah…

The movie follows up on the gang four years after the series ended on HBO.

I’m one of the people who’d quickly say that Sex and the City was an amazing series. That it empowered women and changed the perception of women’s sexuality, that it gave HBO an excuse to do porn. Half kidding aside, I really enjoyed the writing, cinematography, locales, and of course the awwwww moments. At that time, I wasn’t experiencing romance vicariously

Anyway I’m excited for this movie because I’m pretty sure there’ll be a lot of "overstaging of co-actors" happening which would be another interesting dynamic to watch out for!

I’m also thinking about who to ask out to watch this without looking gay, desperate, or horny. If I watched this on my own on my laptop, it’d be very very depressing.

This one’s not a movie.

It’s Heroes Season 3.

If you’ve read my introductory blurb, you’d know that I HATE Heroes but I can’t stop watching it. I’ll blog about that next time. So here’s the next installment. Not much to say, I don’t really want to critique it that much because the video quality is kinda hazy.

But I do want to say that the person who’s playing the mother there is kicking ass in this trailer acting-wise. I have no idea why they’re still using Ando. And look Chuck, Kirsten Bell is still there? It wasn’t that temporary of a contract was it.  Sylar is getting better and better.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

No The Spirit?

I’m excited for the movie, the trailer’s awesome, it’s Frank Miller… But I have no idea what the movie is about so… I’ll just watch it when it comes.  Here’s the link anyway.

what’s wrong with kristen bell? haha i think no one would complain about her still being there!

Posted by bola at April 29, 2008, 11:20 pm

I hated her character, people like that character (bratty, emotionally-driven kids) in general. Put Jessica Alba in that role however, and things change.

Chuck, a friend in ADMU is a Kristen Bell fanboy though, just thought he should know he gets some more eye candy come season 3.

You’re somewhat a silver screen enthusiast. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I am too, yet the problem for me is time … I wish, I shall have all the time for this…

I know the feeling. There’s so much art and entertainment to be had from watching these movies. Sometimes I wish I had a buddy who had the same sentiments so I can watch my Kubrick and Kurosawa flicks with someone…

As per the more entertainment side movies, yeah I don’t usually have trouble finding people to watch movies with.

But as you say, time. I guess it is the amazing feeling of being transported to another time, location, culture, and context that gets me every time I watch a movie. But the fact is, we all have our own realities to get back to.

I’m just wondering if or how Elisha Cuthbert’s acting on her role would compare to that of the actress in the Korean version, which is the earlier version.

Posted by spliceanddice at May 2, 2008, 5:45 am

I haven’t watched a movie (in a movie house) for ages! Such a loser. Nice post by the way, it inspired me to get my butt off my room and go to the movie house and buy some tickets. Yeah. Real movie tickets. Have fun!

Posted by Louis at May 2, 2008, 9:08 am

@spliceanddice

I think the American version will deliver the movie with a different style so we’ll just see :p

@Louis

Yeah real movie tickets! Haha the last movie I saw in the big screen was Forbidden Kingdom, P160? LOL Times are changing, I remember the times when movie tickets were at 50 to 80 only.

Ah, with the American version delivering style, it makes eager to watch Cuthbert’s rendition all the more. I want to take note of certain similarities and differences, quite apart from taking note of who among the two (Cuthbert and the Korean lass) stand out better in camera.

I received my first loans when I was 32 and this aided my family a lot. Nevertheless, I need the bank loan as well.
